St. Rose of Lima School holds a very special place in my heart. I had the honor of joining this school family in September of 1999, when my oldest daughter started Kindergarten. Her entry into St. Rose brought me immediately back to my days at St. Joseph Hill Academy in Staten Island, N.Y., a catholic school that I attended for 12 years. I have watched, through eyes filled with excitement and anticipation, St. Rose change and improve over the years and I proudly witnessed each of my four children grow and develop under the tutelage of the gifted and committed teachers of this school. Sitting in the pews of St. Rose of Lima Church with my husband and family members and watching my children walk down the main aisle after they had donned their caps and gowns, I knew that my children had the foundation they needed to go out into the world, with God at their sides, start new chapters of their lives, and become the well adjusted, successful young adults they are today.
I have worked in many capacities here at St. Rose from the parent who volunteered for just about everything, to PTA President, Teacher’s Aide, and finally coming full circle and allowing my passion and profession for working with and for children as a Catholic School educator to reach fruition in the classroom. I am passionate about everything I do and teach and I want my students to be excited about learning and stay excited about learning! I am all about challenge and hands on learning, insightful and critical thinking. Most importantly, I am all about respect - respect for yourself, your classmates, adults and teachers, and respect for your work, as a direct reflection of who you are as a person and student.
I attended Bryn Mawr College where I received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and had the opportunity, throughout my course of studies, to work in general education classrooms as well as special needs classrooms with autistic, downs syndrome, and severely disabled children. I went on to achieve a Master’s Degree in Child Psychology and a joint degree with special concentration on elementary education from New York University.
“I believe the children are our future. Teach them well and let them Lead the way. Show them all the beauty they possess inside.”
Whitney Houston
These song words are my mantra. I am vested in your children and I believe in the impact a Catholic school experience and education has on children. My commitment to your child’s education will always be steadfast and true.
