Hello! My name is Janeen Shave, and I've been blessed to be part of the amazing St. Rose of Lima family since 2012, when my son entered kindergarten. I've witnessed two of my kids graduate from this wonderful catholic school, and my love for it has led me to remain here.
My journey into the world of teaching began during my high school years when I started offering private instrumental music lessons. This passion led me to teach music for a decade at Brookdale Community College's summer arts program. Pursuing my education, I attended Montclair University, where I completed a Bachelor's degree in K–12 music education, and later earned my elementary education certification. In 1990, I grabbed an opportunity to travel the world as a magician's assistant and musician performing on cruise ships. Our show, “The Magic of Music”, captivated audiences for seven years. In 1997, I returned to the classroom, where I taught both music and resource room classes in the Matawan/Aberdeen Regional School District and the Petaluma district in California, where I made my home for five years. I took a break from teaching in 2003 to focus on my family. Since returning, I’ve held various roles at St. Rose, including several extended teaching positions, substitute teaching, and administrative duties. From 2018 to 2019, I taught 5th and 6th grade language arts.
Outside of teaching, I've loved performing as a musician in the oldies scene, including gigs with The Flamingos and The Crystals in Atlantic City and at the Count Basie Theater. I live in Freehold with my husband George, our two children, Grace and Thomas, along with our two cats, Ollie and Romeo, and our sweet dog, River. I continue to enjoy performing music on the weekends and evenings with various New Jersey bands. You'll also often find me running in Freehold, as it's a hobby I enjoy!
I am a strong advocate for Catholic education and teaching is a passion of mine. I'm excited to be back in the classroom, dedicating myself to full-time teaching at St. Rose!
